(10-08-2020, 11:12 AM)DivergentSony no. I thought because the file is in .ext4, so it should be in ext4 format.

UPDATE: I just tried to check the file format now and cygwin says it is "POSIX Tar archive". Which type of file is that?
I'm confused now as it isn't sparse image that can be converted to ext4 file with sgs2toext4

tar is an archive
you can try opening or extracting the file using 7zip software

Ok. when I open it with 7zip, will I be able to see the folders in the internal storage that contains app data or what do I do next?

Then secondly, what's the right way for me to rename the backup extension file especially as I want to open it with 7zip?

Is it fulldata.img or fulldata.ext4.img or fulldata.ext4.win that the file extension was when I did the concatenation?

if it opens, you can select items then extract or just right click and try extracting without needing to open. you test

in many cases, file name / extension doesn't really matter, the content does. it's been identified as tar so you can add .tar or leave it the way it is, then right click and attempt to extract using 7zip

Thank you very much. I'm very grateful for your help. At least I was able to recover most of my WhatsApp chats. The only major ones I lost were the new chats that I had for the few days the past ne worked before it went dead totally.
I used WinRAR to extract it. I copied the extracted backup folder and replaced it with the backup folder in WhatsApp folder on my new phone after I created a backup folder structure for it.
I would have replied earlier to give a feedback, but I've been so busy with many things online that has suffered due to my absence online. I also wanted to give you enough time before coming to bug you about any issue again.
Thanks a million, I'm very grateful.

Pls do you know how I can do something like this on my notepad app where I saved some notes and Opera Mini where I saved some offline pages? I've extracted the app data for both apps from the userdata tar file.

OK, thank you very much. Maybe I'll try and make some research and see what I can do about it.
