Hello everyone, As the thread subject implies, I am trying to root my Itel s15 (Unisoc)

I have successfully unlocked the bootloader (oem unlock can't be clicked now)  and enabled USB debugging

Based on the tutorial I found in the linked thread  below, I read I am suppose to first flash a custom signed vbmeta.img on my phone : https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-326...#pid199398

I followed the step and used the pre-generated public keys in the zip, although I had to change some of the parameters in the last command to match the keys from the zip file. key_l_modem.bin,key_l_gdsp.bin and key_l_ldsp.bin are key_lmodem.bin,key_lgdsp.bin and key_ldsp.bin in the zip file

Finally I ran this command vbmeta_pad.py to add the DHTB back to the same position as the original vbmeta-sign.img and then flashed it to my device.

I have tried twice now, and I am absolutely certain I am doing everything right, the problem I am facing is.... after I am done flashing the vbmeta file.

I run the fastboot reboot command and my phone reboots perfectly but then gets stuck on homepage and refuses to load any app.

Has anyone encountered or been able to fix this? See image below to get an idea of where it is stuck at

try flashing the custom vbmeta again, if you still get the same apps not loading error then try factory resetting the phone in recovery mode

It won't let me boot into recovery mode, I would have tried doing that from adb, but I am already in bootloader and using fastboot. So I don't think its possible going back to adb

if you can boot to fastboot, then the command for a factory reset in fastboot is
Code:

fastboot -w

Thank You very much X3non. I tried that but it just cause a boot loop.

I think I have found what the problem is. I followed your tutorial in this link : https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-32666.html

then I used a diff checker to verify the "python avbtool.py info_image --image vbmeta-sign.img" command line output

And discovered some differences between both codes.

So I proceeded to extract my own public keys from the vbmeta image using this tutorial : https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-32667.html

Strangely I got only 10 keys unlike the guy in the video and the ones you guys supplied which are both 11.

I also noticed my keys have are different name values i.e Your keys have L...mine have W. See image below

Will I have to modify any command, code or script in this page to proceed : https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-32664.html

Thanks

Did I do anything wrong or does my phone have only 10 public keys?
