how did you attempt to use the tool? using your stock boot.img i.e renamed boot.img to recovery.img
what's the content of log?
hope your AV isn't interfering with using the tool?

How did you get the stock recovery.img for your phone?
Try a different tool @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21839.html

This is an A/B device meaning it doesn't have a recovery partition. You would need to copy boot.img and rename it to recovery.img then use that in our tool.
Using ramdisk-recovey.img will fail

you're to flash the image to boot partition and boot the phone straight to recovery mode.

recovery partition does not exist in A/B devices
you can either boot the twrp OR flash into boot partition (but flash back boot.img once done with twrp)
1. fastboot boot twrp.img
2. fastboot flash boot twrp.img then fastboot reboot (if you use this then you must flash boot.img back to boot partition before attempting to boot into system)
