Hello,
I am having trouble porting TWRP to my Lenovo Tab M8 FHD using the Mediatek Auto TWRP recovery porter.
When I run my stock recovery through the porter it looks as it ports successfully, but when I try to boot the new image  in fastboot (fastboot boot newimage.img) it boots twice to the Lenovo logo then boots normal to my lock screen. If I flash the image through fastboot SP Flashtool or fastboot the tablet boots to the bootloader screen.
I flash the empty vbmeta.img file before trying to use the TWRP images. Re-flashing my stock recovery gives me access to my stock recovery. Any help to what I am doing wrong?

The tablet's bootloader is already unlocked and rooted with a patched Magisk boot image. I am currently running using the latest.Phh Treble GSI 10.0

CPU: Mediatek MT6762 Hello P22T
Stock Factory Firmware: Android 9.0
Stock Kernel version: 4.9.117
Partition slot: A/B

Stock Recovery:

if this device has A/B, where did you get this stock recovery.img from? because A/B devices don't have a physical recovery

Hi,
Thank you for the replay. I downloaded the recovery and the rest of the Tab M8 FHD's images using Lenovo's Rescue and Smart Assistant.  I flashed the scatter file using SP Flash Tool before unlocking the bootloader and rooting by patching the boot.img inside.

I was also thrown off that the rescue images contained at recovery.img with the device being an A/B. I also ran the boot image through the TWRP porter with no success to boot to TWRP. I originally tried to port using AIK, but it always resulted in a black screen and the whole device vibrating. The only way to fix was to flash the stock recovery and Magisk patched boot with SP Flash Tool.

I am attaching the stock boot.img, Magisk patch boot, and TWRP port attempt of the boot image.
Thanks,

i take it that recovery partition is actually listed within the scatter file?

Hi X3non,
Success. It boots to TWRP, but only if I flash your recovery image file and boot to recovery from adb after start up. The button combo of vol up + power brings it to fast boot. Shrugs. The device has been weird from the start. I'll play with it and figure it out later.

Thank you for you help

PS. Yes.the recovery image is from the scatter files. This is the first A/B device I've run into with one which through me off.

lets know if you find anything interesting, meanwhile
you use the command "adb reboot recovery" to reboot to recovery?
can you confirm if you are able to use the same key combo to boot into stock recovery?
