I was trying to make a full ROM dump of a Gionee GN5005 --
Android version - 6.0
Build number - SV1.6 (Droid Info says amigo3.5.6)
Hardware version - P2
Kernel version - 3.18.19
Model number - GIONEE GN5005
System version - amigo os 3.5.6 (GN5005 Release version)
CPU - (About Phone> Hardware Info. - MT6737; Droid Info - Chipset MT6737; CPU-Z - Hardware mt6735)
-- I already have drivers I'd downloaded since '18 + a few more I got today, and I installed 'em to my PC (different from device I normally use before, which I don't possess right now); then checked [Tutorial] How to use Wwr MTK + SP Flash tool to backup Mediatek rom, and followed the new video guide for updated Wwr_MTK ver. 2.51; I extracted latest archives of both tools (Wwr_MTK & SP Flash Tool), then started working.
Wwr_MTK doesn't have MT6737 (and I have read here, in some post, that MT6735 is MT6737), and I added it; loading the scatter file to backup read phone on SP Flash Tool, I got the error:
Code:

Platform MT67 not support on this version. Please update to the latest flashtool and try again.
I decided to try out MT6737M & MT6737T (both available, without my intervention, on Wwr_MTK); SPFT incessantly popped errors at both; on this post's suggestion, I used a different cable without changes to my configuration or SPFT's error message, and a different PC running Win 7, without much progress - only a different, albeit similar error. With reference to linked post and this (which doesn't guide the making of one), I think issue's related to DA file, and my post here is to find solutions to the issue, so I can make a full ROM dump, and flash GApps (using TWRP, hopefully - it's almost the only tool that works).
I don't want to recklessly root, at the risk of bricking device, when it's ROM is so hard to find -- I sought it a year or two ago, with only a link to slow Baidu download, though I found another today (Gionee Steel 2 GN5005_BJ_G1605A_sign_T0130 and Flashtool, which is actually where I got the idea this phone is a BJ_G1605A_T0130, besides build.prop and default.prop) -- only to find that the option(s) available online won't work on me phon'.

Here are errors I got on SPFT when trying to readback:

.png
PC1 S_COM_PORT_OPEN_FAIL (1013).png
Size: 14.07 KB / Downloads: 13
Error - S_COM_PORT_OPEN_FAIL (1013) - on Windows 10 2004 x64
.png
PC 2 err 2004.png
Size: 32.93 KB / Downloads: 10
Error - S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL (2004) - on Windows 7 (SP1, I think) x86

Thanks for any assistance you offer in resolving this issue.

take out / reinsert the battery then retry backup in sp flash tool
repeat the battery take out and also try making a firmware backup using miracle thunder 2.82 @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-13347.html ; post the result of both attempts
lastly, what do you mean by the options online won't work for your device?

Means I have to get me a screw driving set - phone's got inbuilt battery.

Have never been comfortable using @miracle_thunder method. Will see what I can do.

That I don't want to recklessly root my device, without making a ROM backup first, so I don't end up finding the hard way (after bricking device) - that the ROMs online won't work for my device variant.

All right. Forgot you asked that I use Miracle Thunder v2.82; Box v2.58 failed, crashing every time it starts reading something, and phone starts.

I have to take out battery, try things with it out of the picture later on. I'm beginning to think it's a factor in the failure of these tools making a successful backup.

I removed battery and tried using SPFT & Miracle Box, but neither worked; only difference now is that phone doesn't start after Miracle Box fails. I also keep getting this sound notification like plugging USB in & out intermittently; interval between alerts is about 1 second.
SIM 1 slot isn't detecting the SIM inside.

Result of Miracle Thunder v2.82: Nothing differs with the circumstances in Miracle Box v2.58, except that Miracle Thunder doesn't crash after it starts my phone, where Miracle Box would crash a few seconds after notification sound of phone being connected to PC.

Confirm the exact condition of the (i.e if it boots fine and SIM slot issue doesn't persist)
The error(s) you're getting seem(s) consistent with Gionee M6 which also required a DA
Do you still have the baidu download link?

Phone boots all right; I think SIM issue persists, because after re-fixing SIM cable at around 01:15 this morning, it was temporarily unavailable after I made a call around 11:40.
Yes, I do have a baidu link, I think; would have to check. But there's another on MEGA.nz I linked in first post of thread.

UPDATE: SIM 1 slot got disabled (nothing even device settings, like it doesn't exist) when I got (and picked) a call, and was back on after some seconds.
It also kept disconnecting and reconnecting on the 8th, slowing down my browsing, as both slots have to be re-enabled, even though only one has problem.

check the baidu link, it usually includes a flash tool for flash the firmware
you can try the DA files within the tool if available
