I'm trying to remove the orange state message as shown at https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-31664.html

However when i used WWR to generate the firmware it created a lk.bin, but the scatter file from the device (in system/data/misc) shows it as lk.img.

What should i use when flashing the new lk file after removing the orange state message and does it matter?

The scatter file generated by WWR should have the name as lk.bin . There has to be a match when flashing in SP flash tool

If you're talking about renaming lk.bin to lk.img then it should work regardless. What I don't quite get is how you got a scatter file that references lk.img instead of lk.bin .
Whatever scatter you found (you said... system/data/misc) isn't what determines the format to use, its the actual scatter file you use for flashing (from WWR or factory firmwware) that does
