Good day everyone.

Vivo Y12s
MT6765

I use Vivo Y12s which came with Android 10. When it updated to Android 11, I could no longer access the Engineering mode via *#*#3646633#*#* code and even the Apps I tried for accessing it do not work. I need to change something in Engineering mode so I decided to downgrade to Android 10 but came up with this error and phone is stuck in logo now.

What I did so far:
1. used the DA_6765_6785_6768_6873_6885_6853.bin file from https://megafon929.github.io/mtk (still the same error, phone stuck at Vivo logo)
2. unchecked survival, vbmeta, userdata, and vgc in the sp flash tool (the flash is success but phone stuck boots into fastboot)
3. python bypass

I have seen also Hovatek's tutorial here https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-39260.html but I don't know how to get PGPT file so I cannot try it.

current phone build number is PD2036F_EX_A_6.10.4
I want to downgrade to Vivo_Y12S_PD2036F_MT6765_EX_A_1.72.10_190321

Any ideas or help please is appreciated. Thank you

Update. I flash again with preloader, survival and vgc unchecked and it was success. Phone boot up, I was able to select language but then I get this error.

complete initial setup then test the phone to check if everything is working properly or not

Hi thanks for responding. Phone was working after initial setup but still could not access Engineer mode using the code. So, I flash again with only SURVIVAL and VGC unchecked and phone works but still no Engineer mode.

I guess its because I don't have those 2 files flashed that I get error and no access to engineer mode?

I forgot to mention that I was only flashing with "Download Only" setting. Maybe this also explains the problem?

Update.
Upon further search, I see that PD2060F_EX_A_1.72.20 is also a firmware for vivo y12s. Is it possible that this error is caused by wrong firmware as I'm currently using PD2036F? And is it safe to flash another firmware if it's the wrong one? I don't remember what the original firmware of this phone is.

I think I know the issue now. I have list of packages before update and it has package:com.mediatek.engineermode. However, since the update to Android 11 and flash back to Android 10, the package no longer appears in the list. Somehow it was not restored by flashing.

Question now is where can I get this package and install it?

No, the flash operation you choose has nothing to do with apps installed on the device

Not really, you can always extract super.img then extract system.img from within a firmware then check if engineeringmode apk is included

if you flash a wrong firmware then the effects could vary from minor issues to major ones such as a bricked device, ofc you can always flash back the working firmware you have
there's also no way to confirm the original firmware you had, unless you made a firmware backup prior to flashing the new firmware or you took note of the details within setting > about phone

how did you update to android 11 in the first place? using OTA or SP flash tool, if you used OTA and from your first post, the current build number of the device was PD2036F_EX_A_6.10.4 on android 11 then it means you're to use PD2036F not PD2060F
look for and try out other PD2036F firmware builds, maybe a lower build would have engr.mode app

Hi. Yes I got the update from OTA and now I flash back to PD2036F_EX_A_17.10 (Android 10) released back in March which I think should have engineer mode but when I do pm list packages on adb, it's just not there. Maybe the Android 11 update did something to the phone which prevent it from installing because I also see many posts of people complaining about not having it after update.

I also tried asking a friend to extract his apk of mtk engineer mode and install it on my phone but it always fails. Maybe I'm never getting it back I'm out of ideas and am not very good with this thing. LOL

Ok I will try this. Just curious, what is this survival and vgc files and what am I missing in not installing them?

I found the oldest build I could find which is PD2036F_EX_A_1.12.17-update-full_1618627485, but when I choose the scatter file it gives an error so I can't flash it. The files inside this firmware is also different from the other one which I did manage to flash. Does this require a different method of flashing or what?
