How to restore an accidentally deleted /system app or file on an Android phone

(This post was last modified: 09-01-2015, 07:50 PM by hovatek. )

If you accidentally deleted a system app or file like SMS, radio, contacts, phone etc from the /system folder and wish to restore it the here's how to go about it:

* Note: This guide assumes the phone is still rooted, able to boot to home screen and install apps

* Get the file(s) / app(s) you wish to restore
* Copy the file(s) / app(s) to the phone's memory card
* Install ROM Toolbox Lite (download @ https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...ty.toolbox) on the phone
* Launch ROM Toolbox and grant Super User permission
* Select Root Browser in ROM Toolbox
* Scroll down to Sdcard and select it
* Locate the app(s) / file(s) copied to the SD card, longpress and select copy
* Press the green arrow button at the top to exit the Sdcard directory
* Open the /system/apps folder
* Paste the app(s) / file(s) into the apps folder
* To set file permissions, long press the file and select Permissions
* Reboot the phone

* Note: You can use the same method to replace files on other directories.

Another method is to use ADB @ https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-691.html
