How to wipe battery stats on an MTK Android phone

#1

This guide not only applies to MTK (e.g Tecno, Gionee, Infinix, Opsson, Micromax etc) Android phones but to other types as well.
Sometimes, your battery begins acting funny, usually after flashing a new ROM or experiencing an OS crash. Your battery could take ages to charge or discharge very quickly. In some cases, it doesn't charge at all or jumps between large percentages in seconds. In such cases, wiping battery stats is one fix to consider. The target file is batterystats.bin (Root might be required ).

Note: Consider reading this tutorial @ //blog.hovatek.com/how-to-make-an-a...st-longer/

Method 1: From Clockworkmod

1. Charge the battery to 100%
2. Flash Clockworkmod recovery to the phone ( see //forum.hovatek.com/thread-455.html )
3. Boot into recovery mode ( see //forum.hovatek.com/thread-479.html )
4. In recovery mode, navigate to Advanced and select it
5. Select Wipe Battery Stats and select Yes if promoted
6. Boot the phone and use it without charging till it drains
7. After it drains, begin charging again (you can use it)

Method 2: Manual deletion

1. Install a root browser like ROM Toolbox Lite
2. Charge the battery to 100%
3. Launch the root browser in ROM Toolbox Lite and navigate to /data/system
4. Delete batterystats.bin
5. Use the phone till battery drains
6. After it drains, begin charging again (you can use it)
