MTK BACKUP ISSUE
MTK BACKUP ISSUE
(15-11-2014, 09:34 AM)SantaEkan Good day,
Following our chats on bbm, I followed the guide on "How to make an MTK Droid tools backup of an MTK Android phone - See more at: http://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-468....8Ps3J.dpuf " . I was able to install Pdanet application successfully but I'm having trouble with the MTK Droid Tools application.
The attached document is a pictorial image of the error message displayed when trying to backup.
Kindly advise.
Thanks

What you have in the image is "Unknown ROM structure, backup not possible"
I see you were trying to backup a Tecno N3 (which is Spreadtrum based) using MTK droid tools which is for MTK phones. that won't work.
(15-11-2014, 03:11 PM)SantaEkan Thanks again for your prompt response. So what can do I do and how do upgrade my android OS for my phone? Kindly advise.
Thanks

there's currently no custom ROM with a true upgrade for your model
(17-11-2014, 07:47 AM)SantaEkan What about this sandwich custom ROM as seen in your forum: http://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-44.h...haruz.dpbs (i.e. Eblak_N7_v1)

we didn't develop that. but a number of developers have accused it of being just a build.prop edit. although we haven't looked into it ourselves. you could try it though but ensure you make a CWM backup before flashing any ROM
(17-11-2014, 01:48 PM)SantaEkan Thanks for your response again and again. What do you mean by "a build.prop edit"? Also, can I still do a CWM back up if I could not do an MTK backup?
Thanks

a build.prop edit means to change values displayed by your phone. e.g making the phone display Android 5.0 when it's actually running on 2.2 by editing a file named build.prop
If you have flashed CWM recovery to your phone then you can make a CWM backup
(18-11-2014, 07:12 AM)SantaEkan I have not done that yet. Do I still follow the process as stated in this link: http://www.hovatek.com/forum/showthread....JLfY1.dpuf to flash CWM recovery?
Thanks
