OK but I still want know if the fix I saw on a thread for unbricking this particular tablet itel inote it1701 prime actually works or has someone else tried flashing cwm and it worked cause I can't afford to lose this tablet again

the CWM recovery is tested and ought to work on your phone. if it doesnt then there's a pac file you can easily flash back.
if you have serious concerns then I advise you not go ahead

OK thanks for the advise my reason for considering installing cwm was actually to create a backup of the firmware in case something happens but now I have all I need to fix by phone in case it bricks the last time it happened I was helpless if not for the warranty

I successfully downloaded the recovery img (5.52mb) for itel 1701 but im unable to flash it in using flashify, i also tried opening the img file on pc but it doesnt open, says the file might be corrupted. pls help ungently, thanks

did you extract recovery.img from the zip file?

Yes i did, but i did check the recovery img for another mtk backup i made using cwm recovery and it gave the same error. should i go ahead with that one? i was also able to extract the stock recovery.img and boot.img of my device, would that be of use for recovery in case the device gets bricked?
